What is Weduary?

Simply put, Weduary lets you create social and beautiful wedding websites in minutes. While we pride ourselves on the ease of creating a good looking wedding website (complete with plenty of customization options), we truly differentiate from other “wedding website creators” by providing a way for your guests to meet and connect with each other before the event. After all, aren’t your guests one of the most important parts of your day?


Who created Weduary?

Weduary has been built with love by the team at Brit + Co., a company that infuses DIY and tech for creative living.


Why did you create Weduary?

Our founder, Brit Morin, had a tough time finding a beautiful wedding website creator while she was planning her own wedding last year. Hardly any were customizable (and if you know Brit, you know she loves to do-it-herself), and absolutely none of them gave her guests a chance to meet each other and connect before the big event. Thus, Brit and her fiance, Dave, decided to build their own site from scratch. After the event, many of Brit's engaged friends asked her to help them build a similar site for their own wedding. That was when the idea for Weduary hit.


How does it work?

Once you log in with your Facebook account, there are four basic steps to get the framework of your site built. From there, you can customize to your heart’s content, changing the color of your theme, adding your registry options, uploading photos, and of course, inviting your guests to the site. The site is invite-only, meaning only guests that are invited can access it. (Hooray for privacy on the Internet!)


Where can I edit the settings for my site?

Great question! If you click your name in the upper right corner of the Dashboard, you will see a “settings” option on the dropdown.

How will my Facebook friends/guests use it?

Your guests will receive a private Facebook notification that they’ve been invited to your wedding. If you add their email address in the “Add Info” field of the Guests page, they’ll also receive a customized email invite to your website. From there, they’ll need to log in with their Facebook account. Once that’s done, they can get all the details about your big shindig, and even better, can check out who else is coming... including yes, all the people that they should meet based on common interests and mutual friends. If they are single, the ‘Flirt’ section will even show them the other single people they should meet. They can even tell personal stories about you and your spouse-to-be! (Don’t worry, we’re working on a feature to let you delete those...you know, so that your mom & dad won’t get offended when that crazy friend from college tells that story about the one time you guys got really drunk together.)


How do I invite friends who aren’t on Facebook?

Weduary can be used by Facebookers and non-Facebookers alike. To invite friends that aren’t on Facebook, just add them by email address on the Guests page of your dashboard. Then, make sure your site is turned to “Public” on the Settings page (you can find that page by clicking the dropdown arrow on upper right corner of the dashboard). Once this is done, your Facebook-using guests can still log in to RSVP and access social features, and your non-Facebook guests can see everything else on the site. We know it would be optimal if all guests could RSVP and use social features and are working to add email/password log in capabilities for all guests in the future. Stay tuned!

How do I use a custom domain?

Great question, we’re glad you asked. There are two options here: 1) Purchasing a brand new domain (ex: www.megandjohn.com), which you’re able to do in Step 3 of the getting started process, or 2) Using a domain you’ve already purchased elsewhere on the web. If you choose this option, just go to Step 3 in the getting started process, and click “Add a domain.” Enter your domain, click “Next!”, then click the link “Already own this domain?” Once you do that, you’ll see instructions to set your A-Record to 184.169.154.183. To do this, log into your domain hosting site, and edit your DNS settings to point your A-Record at this IP address.


I am having issues adding a custom domain, what should I do?

When adding a custom domain, make sure that you click “next” on step 3 and “done” on step 4. You should then be presented with a checkout page to purchase the domain. If not, please contact us at hello@weduary.com.


Why can’t I invite some of our guests?

Make sure that you and your fiance have both logged into your wedding site. Once done, you should be able to invite any guest that is a friend of each of yours on Facebook.
